My 2015 A to Z Challenge Theme is Quotes & Lines from Literature. Each day I will be posting a favorite quote or a few lines from well known short stories, poems or novels, with the letter of the first name as the A to Z. I’ll have a short write up with each quote, but each quote can also serve as a writing prompt for readers or myself. I may write a poem or flash fiction based on that quote, or just throw it out there as inspiration. Hopefully you’ll join me in this adventure! I’ll try to include some of my favorite blog finds as I move through the challenge as well.
This lovely excerpt comes from one of my favorite things, my Love Book app on my iPhone. My regular readers have heard me mention this app many times, like in my D post from last year or a post from OctPoWriMo where I dedicate a Haiku attempt to my experience with the app. There is also a print version of The Love Book, but I love that I can carry poems (and prose) around with me all the time and even have it read to me by many great talents (like Tom Hiddleston😀, Emma Watson & Helena Bonham Carter) all with fantastic British accents. #AccentJunkie 🙂
I love the idea of “divine drunkenness” and so I used that as the inspiration for the flash fic below. If you read my 7 Ways To Spark Your Creativity post today (over at the Twisted Writers blog that I contribute to every Tuesday), I am using my Make A List suggestion. I’ve made a list of words to include in a 100 word or less flash fic. (Note I am still a flash fic newbie, especially in this limited number of words & this is of course just a rough draft).
List – love, drunk, try
“Won’t you just try?” he asked.
She shook her head sadly. “Do you ever miss the early days? Life was full of possibility. We were so in love. We walked around almost drunk with it all”
“Of course. I miss our youth, freedom, even those leather Rock-N-Roll pants.”
“I loved those pants,” she said with a wicked smile.
“Hell, I’ll go find them now if it means you won’t leave.”
She looked at his face. So sincere. Could she ever get drunk on him again?
“I guess we could … try.” she said.
And she stayed.
